Popularly known as "Hermit Kingdom", Ladakh is a land of snow carved peaks, translucent Lakes, barren terrain and mystic culture. The district of Ladakh lies at the border with Tibet at the most eastern corner of the State of Kashmir. Bounded by two of the world's mightiest mountain ranges, the Great Himalaya and the Karakoram, Ladakh is a land like no other. Ladakh is often referred to as the "Little Tibet", or the "Last Shangri-La". Ladakh is the trans-Himalayan region, which separates the western Himalayan peaks from the Tibetan plateau.

In an area of 95.000 sqm are living the nomadic minority tribes of Dras (Drokpas) and Da-Hanu (Dukpas) belonging to the Aryan race, tibetans of Tsomoriri (Changpas) and the Ladakhies, who preserve their autochthonous culture in a natural way of impressive aridity.

Ancient monasteries, chortens, prayer flags and walls with mantra inscriptions, will allow you to get in touch with age-old pillars of Tibetan Buddhism. The 'mindfulness of breathing' is a meditation for developing clarity and awareness.

High mountain passes, deep river valleys with abrupt canyons, vast plateaux sustaining incredibly beautiful wild flowers co-existing with the normal shrub and remarkable wind sculpted rock hills make this a trekkers paradise.
