Day 01: Arrival Leh – Drive to Chushot (Bilupa Mountain Lodge)
  • Arrival at Leh airport and transfer to Bilupa Mountain Lodge in Chushot.
  • Relax and acclimatize at Asia’s longest village flanked by the Indus River.
  • Late afternoon: Introductory walk to the Indus Marshes for first birding session.
  • Evening Briefing over herbal tea and local snacks around the bonfire.

🛏️ Overnight at Bilupa Mountain Lodge, Chushot.

Day 02: Birding along Indus Wetlands & Village Walks
  • Early morning: Guided birding walk—
  • Visit to the willow groves & irrigation canals for migratory passerines.
  • Afternoon: Cultural walk in Chushot village—interactions with the Bilupa family, heritage homes & stories.

🛏️ Overnight at Bilupa Mountain Lodge, Chushot.

Day 03: Horseback Safari & Marshland Picnic
  • Morning: Horseback Safari along the Indus Riverbank led by trained local riders.
  • Picnic brunch at a riverside meadow with spotting scopes set up.
  • Afternoon rest or optional short trail to search for:
    1. Eurasian crag-martin
    2. Dark-sided flycatcher
    3. Yellow-breasted bunting
    4. Spotted flycatcher
    5. Tibetan lark
    6. Blue rock thrush
    7. Rosy starling
    8. Eurasian Eagle-Owl

Day 04: Drive Chushot – Hanle (via Nyoma)
  • Scenic drive through high-altitude deserts and nomadic hamlets.
  • En route birding stop at Nyoma marshes.
  • Arrival in Hanle—home to the world’s highest astronomical observatory and rare Ladakhi Upland Wildlife.

🛏️ Overnight in a guesthouse / eco-camp at Hanle.

Day 05: Birding & Wildlife in Hanle Valley
  • Full-day exploration of the Hanle basin—Horned Lark, Tibetan Lark, Ladakh Ground Pecker, and possibly the elusive Snow Leopard scat tracks.
  • Visit to Hanle Monastery and an evening stargazing session (weather permitting).

Day 06: Drive to Tso Moriri Lake (Karzok Village)
  • Drive through remote highland plateaus & past grazing Kiangs (Tibetan wild ass).
  • Arrival at Tso Moriri—nestled at 4,522m, a Ramsar site.
  • Evening birding by the lake: Bar-headed Geese, Brown-headed Gulls, Great Crested Grebes.

🛏️ Overnight in eco-lodge / camp at Tso Moriri (Karzok).

Day 07: Full Day Birding at Tso Moriri
  • Sunrise birding session around the lake’s north shore and in the wetlands near Karzok.
  • Afternoon hike to nearby ridges to look for Tibetan Snowcock, Güldenstädt’s Redstart and Lammergeier.

🛏️ Overnight at Tso Moriri.

Day 08: Drive back to Chushot – Final Night at Bilupa Mountain Lodge
  • Return via Mahe Bridge with en-route landscape and birding stops.
  • Check-in and unwind at Bilupa with a farewell dinner featuring local Ladakhi cuisine.
  • Optional: Review of sightings with checklists & stories under the stars.

Day 09: Departure from Leh Airport
  • Transfer to Leh Airport for onward journey with binoculars full of memories!
